Almost 7 tons of aid went to eastern Ukraine
Olomouc – Work boots, children’s shoes, crutches and hospital equipment. All of
this was loaded yesterday by the staff of the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc
(ACHO) and their assistants in a truck that will set off from Olomouc to
eastern Ukraine today. That aid will be divided there among those who need by
Caritas Mariupol. It supports not only people in need from its area, but also
internally displaced as a result of the war conflict in the east of the
country.
The truck is loaded not only with footwear and crutches,
but also with the equipment needed by Mariupol hospitals. “We send sterilizers,
CombiSets to operating rooms, hospital beds and bedside tables. This assistance
will be divided on the spot by Caritas Mariupol, with whom we have been working
for three years”, explains Khrystyna Novodvorska, Project Coordinator of ACHO in
Ukraine.
ACHO also supported the dining room in Mariupol, where
people in need can eat for free, as well as those who fled from the eastern
part of the country where the war lasts for the last six years. Caritas
Mariupol also helps materially. “Caritas Mariupol provides material and
psychological assistance to children, adults and whole families who fled the
war. It also helps people in need from the Mariupol region and provides health
and nursing services to the elderly and the sick”, continues Khrystyna
Novodvorska.
The truck with almost seven-ton shipment will
depart from Olomouc in the direction of eastern Ukraine today.
Caritas thanks the donors for sending this help to
those who need in Ukraine.
Beds and
sterilizers were supplied by Tomas Bata Regional Hospital.
CombiSety was provided by Hartmann in cooperation
with Caritas Znojmo.
The crutches were supplied by individual Caritas
from the Archdiocese of Olomouc.
Shoes are from Prabos and Z-Style.
