Olomouc – Richard Bouda’s photography exposition named ‘Contrasts of Ukraine’ succesfully reached it’s finish line. Caritas of the Archdiocese of Olomouc used proceeds from the project to buy two cameras which will be donated to the children’s home in Bortnyky and to endowment fund ‘Children in need’ in Lopatyn in Ukraine.
Almost a year passed since the vernissage of Richard Bouda’s exhibition called ‘Contrasts of Ukraine’. Photos capture Ukraine in the light of war, but also in the light of everyday life and happiness. In the February of last year the exhibition could be seen in the museum of national history in Olomouc, in castle in Holešov and in church in Velká Bystřice. Alongside with the exhibition a project of the same name was launched by Caritas of the Archdiocese of Olomouc. This project’s aim was to get the financial means to buy cameras for children from children’s homes in Ukraine. The target was met and money from the project was used to buy two cameras. These cameras will bring joy to the lives of children from children’s home in Bortnyky and from endowment fund ‘Children in need’ in Lopatyn in Ukraine.
These newly bought cameras will help said institutions in propagating themselves, but most importantly, they will be available to children. “Children like to take pictures and they tend to view the world from a completely different perspective than us adults. I think that pictures from children could serve as little windows into their soul and mind,” said coordinator of projects in Ukraine for Caritas of the Archdiocese of Olomouc Khrystyna Novodvorska. Taking photographs can be implanted into children’s free time as a new hobby. They can help propagate the home they are living in. Cameras will be given to the children by the members of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Olomouc in person during their traditional visit at their partners in Ukraine. The exact term is not set for now because of travel restrictions.
Two cameras of model SONY Alpha A6000 were bought from company Centrum FotoŠkoda. We wanted to show our gratitude towards this company and we also wanted to thank everybody who supported this project with a financial donation.
