On Friday 23rd April 2021 our colleagues from Caritas of Kolomyia handed over medical supplies worth tens of thousands EUR to the local hospital and birth center in Kolomyia. It is a large portion of the material aid that was sent to Ukraine by Caritas of the Archdiocese of Olomouc thanks to its donors in the beginning of this year’s April.

The package weighing almost five tons is one of the many ways in which Caritas of the Archdiocese of Olomouc helps Caritas of Kolomyia for eleven years now. Director of local Caritas Sergei Tryfiak in an interview for a local television station emphasized long lasting cooperation with their Czech partner  and he appreciated the meaning of this aid during an ongoing pandemic. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to help a local hospital under such difficult circumstances. It is our joy to hand over the medical supplies to the hospital and birth center, which were given to us by our partners from the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Olomouc. They are our long–standing partners who help our city for many years,“ he said.

Director of central regional hospital Andrij Koshkin also expressed gratitude for quick aid. “In the beginning of current year we asked Caritas of Kolomyia for help with equipping the hospital. As you can see Caritas did not keep us waiting. Today we received defibrillators, life support monitors, incubator and sets for surgical, therapeutic, gynaecological and other uses. We are very grateful for an immediate reaction. We did not expect the aid to be so large and quick,“ stated director Koshkin.

Many thanks belong to all donors who made this possible. Ukraine is struggling with a lack of accessible healthcare and every such donation can prevent fatal consuquences, even when it comes to trivial medical conditions.

Delivery beds and other medical material were provided by Tomáš Baťa regional hospital in Zlín.

CombiSets were given to us by HARTMANN – RICO a.s.

Work shoes were donated by companies Prabos plus a.s. and Z- Style CZ a.s.

Clothes for both children and adults were provided by the Centre for material aid of Caritas in Olomouc.
